ON OUR RADAR: INTO PAGEANT'S GLAMOUROUS DESIGNERS

In a world of rapid changes and trends, we often overlook some glamorous design proposals that shine brighter than anyone expected. In 2018, Rian Fernandez deserved the fanfare that was just going to start the legacy that we are witnessing today. Thanks to R’Bonney Gabriel’s triple win of Miss Texas, Miss USA and Miss Universe all in Rian Fernandez gowns, his name is etched in everyone’s mind and rightly so.

With this, let’s look at five designers who in my consideration are quite capable of setting ablaze.

Becoming IT Girl with Larry Espinosa

Starting this show with Larry Espinosa. The designer caught my eye when I saw R’Bonney, one of my favorite fashion icons, wearing the matte gold breastplate gown during the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 coronation night. On discovering more about the designer, I realized that Larry has designed a number of gowns that I have actually loved! Beginning with the Blue gown that again R’Bonney wore during hosting the Miss Universe 2023 National Costume round. The genius molding that Larry uses for his gowns, especially the bodices, are quite fascinating work of art. Few other gowns that Larry’s ingenious has crafted are the Zozibini Tunzi, Rabiya Mateo, Pauline Amelinck and Sheynnis Palacios' gown shown below. Now, I manifest into this Universe to see at least one Larry Espinosa gown during this year’s evening gown competition at Miss Universe in Mexico!

Top of the WORLD with Kevin O'Brian

Do you remember Miss World Martinique and Miss World Top Model, Axelle Rene’s stunning gold gown? Well, meet the wonderful designer Kevin O’ Brian who is setting the Pageantry world on high alert with their skilful and capable craftsmanship. Their fresh take on classic concepts of fashion is what sets this designer apart. Also, let's not forget how marvelous Axelle looked in the gorgeous 8kg jeweled gown that made her an instant favorite on finale night of Miss World.

Dreaming in rhinestones with GL Garlate Designs

Thai Designer GL Garlate Designs is also a designer that queens must keep in their lists. The marvelous embellishments and sequin work used in the designs are unmatched! If someone can get glamorous sequins and beads right under a perfect nude mesh draping, it is GL Garlate Designs. From Krystyna Pyszkova to Andrea Aguilera and Karla Guilfu, they have designs that will make sure to capture your heart and fit it perfectly, just like those embellishments!

Indian pageant ladies must keep their eyes set on Maison H as their brands are an electrifying and perfect example of creating international standard gowns with the rich Indian essence. The fresh perspectives that the brand is bringing on the table is real game changer and are quite capable of weaving magic that is just right for an international stage.
