We think it can be confirmed that Opal Suchata has a romantic relationship with a palette of colours. Ever since this queen has stepped on the stage of Miss World, you can notice that she has mastered what colours suit her the best for this role. One colour that she has remarkably used is white. Often symbolised for peace, purity and perfection, Opal made sure that her winning gown carried a piece of Miss World’s ethos and vision.

Here’s how you can channel white colour in your pageant wardrobe and be Miss World ready!

Whites for Interview? Groundbreaking!

Let’s particularly talk about her interview look. During her interview, Opal wore a white dress with ruffled bottom ending, and a white rose on the left shoulder designed by C. Ciquire. While this might stand out as a simple outfit for some people, the brilliance that this dress portrays is a simple message for the judges- she is what the crown needs. What essentially the colour white does here is separate her from the rest of the candidates; because white, as a colour, has the physical composition to do that.

Use Colours for Effective Pageant Branding

While this might sound like a tricky science, mastering the basics of what a good colour can do for you is important because it helps you stand out in the crowd. This is very similar to what R’Bonney Gabriel did during her Miss Universe performance- wearing black, a colour not commonly used but blended with her perfectly, made her look edgy and what actually gave her the edge.

No Sequins - New Era of Winning Pageant Wardrobe?

Opal also chose to wear more simple designs, with elegant outlines or embroidery over them. She tried avoiding sequins altogether, a fabric most candidates chase during Miss Universe. This smart shift in choice definitely gave her an upper hand as both audience and judges learnt that she is not at Miss World just as a candidate but as an ambassador of the ethos itself. She designed herself as a Beauty with a purpose indeed.

So what we learnt here is three things- know your colours, know the fabric that looks the best for the occasion, know how to play with those colours and fabrics to your advantage!
