In Review: Miss World Europe 2017 Talks about Taylor Swift’s New Album
By Stephanie Hill, Miss World 2017 2nd Runner-up & Miss World Europe 2017 and Miss United Kingdom 2017
First things first - the number one rule with a new Taylor Swift album is NEVER trust your first listen. I adore the surface-level simplicity of this album, but the more you really listen you can see it is composed of multiple layers, both production-wise and thematically.
Personally, I am absolutely glad to be out of the ‘folk-more’ witchy woods and the TTPD Asylum, this almost more mature, vintage-y, older sibling of 1989 was just what the honorary Dr ordered. It is truly a joy to welcome back the Max Martin and Shellback combination, and I think the main take-home of this piece is that our girl is happy, albeit understandably exhausted and a little apprehensive about what her own future holds as the world’s biggest pop star, as she moves into her new identity as an artist as well as being in a secure, loving relationship.
I love the shameless gushing over her beau, so what if she still has a little beef to settle with artists she once supported, one of the most enjoyable essences of art is the escapism, and this is a behind-the-scenes look at her life which is so far removed from the average.
I am also very much enjoying the musical-theatre inspired nuances - the bridge of the title track is VERY Pasek & Paul (The Greatest Showman, Dear Evan Hansen) and the orchestral embellishments in Elizabeth Taylor and Father Figure are really dreamy - this was a very safe transition into some of the more musical/vintage elements and I am so on board with this light-hearted new era.
Shop the Looks: Be a Pageant Girl Wrapped in Traditional Royalty
As the festive season begins, we often think about getting our traditionals out of our wardrobe, and more often than not, a pageant girl can be surprised with the lack of traditionals and the abundance of western bodycons she has because the pageant season demands that of her.
This blog is your sign to get more traditionals in your wardrobe, for the festivities, for the glam, and for the audience! No one but the pageant fans love to see their favourite queens wrapped in beautiful traditional garments that make them look authentic and align them with the cultural richness of their country.
